Lots of children have an instinctive love of being aloft or elevated, this originates from the thrill of learning to move and walk as a toddler and the excitement of being able to clamber onto something to feel taller and see things not visible from a lower level.

Our popular Treehouse Shelter, available in four different sizes, recognises this instinctive drive and balances it with optimum safety by ensuring a critical fall height of 0.6m and allowing the tree house shelter to be safely installed onto either grass or tarmac without the need for a soft fall surface.

A further advantage of a treehouse shelter is of course that by installing a raised shelter, you can utilise a sloping or “rough” ground area of the playground that might otherwise lie neglected.

Access to the shelter is via a staircase. * The number of staircases vary as the size of the shelter increases; please see the dimensions table below for details.

The rear wall of the shelter has octagonal windows with seating included beneath the windows. *The number of octagonal windows also varies with the size of shelter; please see the table below for details.

There is also one rectangular window at the end of each shelter.  The provision of windows ensure that the shelter provides protection from the elements but doesn’t compromise on the provision of light or interesting look out points.

    Mineral Felt

A standard finish, good at keeping out the weather but not the most aesthetically pleasing of our roof options.

    • The roof bearers are fitted to span across the apex: the size would depend on the span but it would be a minimum of 75mm x 50mm.  The timber would be good quality redwood, planed with swept edges
    • 12mm wbp external grade plywood is fitted to the top surface
    • A layer of BBA approved breathable membrane is fitted as an underfelt
    • A layer of 38kg mineral felt is fitted as the top surface and secured using galvanised staples.
    • In the case of a large roof, pressure treated batons are fitted perpendicular to the roof felt
    • The roof edges will be secured with a facia board, the top finished with a ridge board and trim is fitted to the bottom.
    • Guttering is always recommended and can either be fitted by us or retrospectively by you once installed.
    • We ensure that all of the external walls of our shelters are built to with stand all weather conditions.
    • The framework is built using a good quality, 38mm x 50mm profile redwood timber planed and sanded with swept edges.
    • The framework is fixed together using zinc yellow screws.
    • 12mm Redwood cladding is fitted to the outside of the framework, this is glued as well as pinned with 38mm galvanised pins.
    • The wall is finished inside and out with preservative to suit.
    • If the top edge is exposed an edge trim is fitted.
    Non opening glazed
    • The windows are built as separate units; once they have been sanded and treated they are glazed with 2mm polycarbonate sheet.  They are then fitted and sealed using clear silicon into the wall.
    • The polycarbonate used is completely clear and will not fade or become brittle with time; it is 200 times the strength of glass making it virtually shatter proof.
