The Battle Ship comes with a covered shelter or cabin as standard and provides protection from both light drizzle and bright sunlight.

This easily accessible play boat has lots of space both on deck and in the " wheelhouse" and makes both a terrific focal point for imaginative play and a super spot for some rest and relaxation during hectic play times.

The wheelhouse sits to the stern of the boat and provides a covered area with low panel walls to the sides that give passengers a good view of the rest of the playground and teachers a great view into the cabin.

The open area to the bow has a large access point on both port and starboard sides which provides a “through-route” across the deck.

The low panels at the bow of the boat have benches fitted on either side and an unglazed octagonal porthole on either side too.  The portholes are large enough for children to crawl through and provide an exciting way of boarding the boat.

    • The framework is built using a good quality, 38mm x 50mm profile redwood timber planned and sanded with swept edges.
    • The framework is fixed together using  zinc yellow screws

As long as the maintenance instructions are adhered to, the product will last substantially longer.

    Maintenance Required

    • Ensure that an air gap is maintained under the base and around all sides; check on an regular basis to ensure that there is no build-up of debris.
    • Check edges and corners regularly to ensure that knocks to the structure have not caused a splinter hazard, if that has occurred sand down with sandpaper and re-treat the sanded area.
    • The wood preservative  will need re-coating every so often; (the same type of time scale as your house) this does depend on the prevailing weather conditions but would typically be 2 - 4 years.

    Be aware

    • If decking becomes slippery in the wet this is due to microscopic fungi on the surface, wash off with a diluted bleach solution.
    • If small mould growths appear on the inside this is due to lack of air circulation, wipe down with a diluted bleach solution as soon as visible.
