Completed for: £9,516 (exc. VAT)
Project code: EP110654
This play area looks great in any playground and provides lots of opportunities for fun and imaginative play. The entire of the play area is covered in decking which makes the area clearly identifiable. The decking is treated with anti slip rubber paint. On the left hand side there is a castle play frame which has seating all around the inside walls and on the outer front wall. The castle provides lots of scope for imaginative play and also provides plenty of seating for the children. The centre of the play area provides another seating area and plenty of space for lots of children to play or just chat with their friends. On the right hand side there is a playhouse which has further seating to the front of it. The playhouse is accessed via a door in the front of the playhouse which has a letterbox in it. The playhouse has 5 non opening rectangular windows and 1 octagonal window which allow lots of light into the playhouse. The windows on the front of the playhouse have a window box underneath them which are great for planting up flowers and getting the children involved in gardening. There is balustrades rails along the front with gaps for access which again identify the area and look great.

Specification
Decking can be laid at ground level either as a floor for a play-frame, a sub base for a playhouse or to give an additional play area. The decking boards are good quality grooved redwood boards that are pressure treated. The deck boards are screwed to pressure treated 50mm x 100mm timber bearers which in turn sit on bricks placed at ground level. A weed prevention membrane is fitted below the decking to ensure that there is no plant growth up through the boards. If it is being used as a sub-base or play area a skirt is fitted to match to deck.
Decking can be painted with a non slip rubberised paint, please ask for details.
The playhouse roof is built to withstand the English climate; 75mm x 50mm bearers are put across from side to side. Screwed to these bearers is 12mm external quality plywood covered with two layers of base waterproof membrane and then wooden cedar shingles, using galvanised staples. The felt is wrapped over the front and back and sealed behind the facia board; there is also a ridge board fitted along the top ridge, these boards can be either straight or shaped.
The windows are built as separate units; once they have been sanded and treated they are glazed and then fitted and sealed using clear silicon into the frame. These windows are glazed with 2mm polycarbonate sheet, this is completely clear, will not fade or become brittle with time, it is 200 times the strength of glass making it virtually shatter proof.
This is our highest level of build, the playhouse will have a damp proof membrane in the walls, full insulation and flat plywood lined walls on the inside with architrave around the doors and windows and skirting board around the bottom of the walls.
Initially a framework is built using 50mm x 38mm timber. To this we fix on the outside a weatherproof membrane and good quality redwood ship lap using galvanised brads, insulation panels are fitted between the framework before 6mmwbp plywood in fitted as an internal skin, this makes the side panels. Architrave is fitted around the doors and windows and skirting around the bottom of the walls. These panels are then sanded and treated on the outside using two coats of Sadolin wood preservative. These are then fitted together on site, a clear silicon seal is applied to all the corners.
The playframe sides are built to last; This type of construction is used for open buildings that are not weatherproof. Initially a framework is built using 50mm x 38mm timber with rounded edges. To this we fix using galvanised brads, good quality redwood shiplap timber, this makes the side panels. These panels are then sanded and treated both inside and outside using two coats of Sadolin wood preservative. These are then fitted together on site.
All our doors are built with safety as a paramount concern. All are a special non-trap design, using piano hinge down the whole length of the door, and then a rebate on the inside of the hinged side. When the door is in the closed position there is a taper between the door and frame, so should little fingers be left in the way they will not be pinched. Doors are held closed with heavy duty magnets; this prevents a child getting locked in accidentally. The cut out window is glazed with unbreakable 2mm polycarbonate sheet. Doors have a knob inside and out.
